Thiruppur Kumaran He was a revolutionary active in the Nationalist struggle for independence. He was born in Madras Presidency in Chennimalai, British India from the family of Sengunthar Mudaliar. He formed the Youth Association Desa Bandhu and led demonstrations against the British.
During a protest march against the British government on January 11, 1932, he died of injuries sustained by a police attack on the banks of Noyyal River in Tiruppur. He kept the Indian Nationalists ' flag at the time of his death, which was outlawed by the British giving rise to the Kodi Kaththa Kumaran (Kumaran who defended the flag) epithet.
