ACTION is a force which is exerted in one particular direction;
On the other hand REACTION is the force being exerted in the opposite direction of action.
For example,
When you jump of a boat your feet exert a backward force on the boat. This is the action.
At the same time a force is exerted by the boat on your feet which makes you move forward. This force is the reaction.
