Anamaolous behaviour is the different behaviour shown by an element of a group. It has anamolous properties i.e., properties different from its group.
Explanation:
- Anamolous behaviour is defined as the abnormal behaviour off the elements present in a group due to their small size, electronegativities, and non-availability of d-orbitals.
- The elements which belong to a group should show same properties, but some show different properties known as Anomolous properties.
- For example beryllium, it is covalent as compared to other alkaline earth metals. It does not react with acid, and it has high melting and boiling points.
