DEFINITION:

Its the  property where the atoms of the same element bond(covalent bond) together forming pretty long chains sometimes it non ending too. This specialized property is popularly exhibited by our organic element carbon.
This guy knows how to form those long chains with himself again and again forming pretty huge structure ,this structures might even be complex and also can be as simple as to learn addition now.
The carbon can be linked to other atoms too during catenation process forming different compounds

imagine you have a dough and with the help of the same dough you making little spheres with hands by their sides you make a ton of them and attach one another .... they form a long chain after word they ll belong to the same dough and they form long chain in case of carbon it forms the bonds called covalent bonds with carbon again forming long chains but here it does nto need you it makes its bonds by itself
