What do you mean by coefficient of friction

coefficient of friction is a dimensionless quantity.... whose value is equal to the ratio of the frictional force between the surfaces in contact and the force pressing them together (which is also the normal force)....

Coefficient of friction = Frictional force/Normal force..

The coefficient of friction (mew s) is defined as the ratio of the frictional force between the tyres and road surface to the normal reaction which is perpendicular to the road
Frictional force= Coefficient of friction × Normal reaction
