Crop Diversification:

  • Crop diversification is the process by which instead of plantings same crop over years after years, different crops are planted in different seasons, to increase the soil fertility as well as to increase the yield.
  • Crop diversification is needed because same crop utilizes same nature of minerals from the soil, rendering the soil become deficient in a particular mineral.
  • But, planting different crops leads to uniformity among the nutrients of the soil. It also allows the farmer to utilize the land for most of the time of year, thereby increasing his income.
