dimensional analysis is the analysis of the relationships between different physical quantities by identifying their base quantities (such as length, mass, time, and electric charge) and units of measure (such as miles vs. kilometers, or pounds vs. kilograms) and tracking these dimensions as calculations or comparisons are performed. The conversion of units from one dimensional unit to another is often somewhat complex. Dimensional analysis, or more specifically the factor-label method, also known as the unit-factor method, is a widely used technique for such conversions using the rules of algebra
Applications---
The dimensional equations have got following three uses: To check the correctness of a physical equation. To derive the relation between different physical quantities involved in a physical phenomenon.

The powers of a physical quantity which are raised on fundamental units are known as dimensions. And formula for expressing the dimensions of any physical quantity is its dimensional formula.
Example:- The dimensional formula for force is MLT¯².
Application of dimensions are:-
1. Checking the accuracy of physical equations.
2. For obtaining a relation between the different physical quantities.
3. For changing a physical quantity from one system of units to another system of units.
