The splitting of white light into it's constituent colours is what is known as dispersion.
The Different colours of light bend through different angles as the speed of constituent colours of light differ from each other.

Dispersion is bending of light rays at different angles due to refraction and getting seperated from each other.
The happens due to the wavelengths are different and acc to korchi's equation
Refractive index is inversely proportional to its wavelength.
