The chemical reaction in which highly reaxtive metal displace lower reactive metal from its compound is known as DISPLACEMENT REACTION.

Example: zinc displacing iron ions from iron(II) sulfate solution.

The reaction on which there is an exchange of ions between the reactants is called DOUBLE DISPLACEMENT REACTION.

Example: : Na2S + HCl → NaCl + H2S.
