Electrolysis can be defined as the technique or process through which electricity and its current is used in a chemical reaction to make one possible and it is also used for separation of certain elements from their respective ores.

electrolysis:-As the name suggests 'electro' means electricity and 'lysis' means separation,so electrolysis means separation by passing electric current. We use electrolysis for many purposes such as for separating highly reactive metals from their ore and also separating hydrogen and oxygen in water. Hope this answer helps
