The green revolution or the Third Agricultural Revolution was launched in India in the 1960s. Under this the government took several steps to increase agriculture output in India.
The term Green Revolution was first used by William S. Gaud.
The high yielding varieties of seeds was the reason for the success of the Green Revolution.
These Include:
- Using better quantity seeds.
- Increasing area under irrigation.
- Using manures and fertilisers.
- Using modern machinery such as tractors and harvesters.
