Hello!

HTML= Hyper text mark up language.

It was first  developed by Tim Berners-Lee in 1990.

Now why is HTML know as markup language?

Hypertext means machine readable text and Markup means to structure it in a specific format.

So,HTML is calledhypertext markup language because it is a language that allows users to organize, improve the appearance of, and link text with data on the internet .

or in simple

Markup language is a set of markup tags. HTML uses markup tags to describe web pages.

Markup is what HTML do to the text inside them. They mark it as a certain type of text(like bold, italic, underline etc).

Due to these reasons HTML is called Markup language.

Hope it helps!
