The metals of group 7, 8, and 9 do not form hydrides. This region is referred as Hydride gap in modern periodic table. These metals have low affinity for hydrogen in  their normal oxidation state.

For eg.- Mn, Fe, Co, Rh, Hf, W, Os etc

Any compound of hydrogen with another element, including ionic compounds such as sodium hydride (NaH), covalent compounds such as borane (B 2 H 6), and the transition metal hydrides formed when certain metals, such as palladium, absorb hydrogen.

The metals of 7th, 8th and 9th groups in the periodic table do not form hydrides and this region of periodic table is referred to as the hydride gap.
