In India, labours were hired under contracts which promised return travel to India after they had worked 5 years on their employer 's plantations.in mid 19th century. Indian places experienced many changes which effected lives of the poor. They failed to pay rents,became deeply in debt. and were forced to migrate in search of work. This is how Indian labours became indentured labours
