What do you mean by inter atomic forces of attraction

In an atom sub atomic particles are present like protons and neutrons are present in nucleus called nucleons and electrons of negative charge are in free space the charge of nucleus is negative charge because the protons contains positive charge and neutrons contains no charge. That why there will attraction between electrons and nucleus hence these are the inter atomic forces.
Therefore the charge of atom is neutral except in ions
