A joint family is made up three generations which contain grandparents, parents, and their children.

The eldest of the family will be the head and will administer the entire family. They all live in the same house and share the income.

They are larger in size as three generations are living together.

This family had been very common during the early days and now people don't understand the value of it and are seen as a separate nuclear family.
