The information of this era comes largely from, the Sama Veda. During the Later Vedic Age, other vedic texts were also produced, such as the Upanishad, Aranyakas, The Brahmanas and the epics__Ramayana and the mahabharata. The events mentioned in the Ramayana and mahabharata are believed to have take place towards the end of the Later Vedic Period. Hence, this period is also called The Epic Age

People in later Vedic Period used painted grey vessels. Such vessels have been found in many places in North India. Archaeologists call these sites as "Painted Grey Ware”
