The modern periodic table: Mendeleev's table needed one important modification before it became the modern periodic table – the use of atomic number to order the elements. All atoms of the same element contain the same number of particles called protons, and this is called the element's atomic number.

Modern Periodic Table, also known as the Periodic Table, is a tabular arrangement in which chemical elements are arranged according to their atomic numbers, configuration of electrons and chemical properties. A Modern Periodic Table consists of four block, i.e., the “S”, “P”, “D” and “F” blocks. Metallic elements are located on the left hand side of the Modern Periodic Table, whereas non-metallic elements are located on the right hand side.
