Monocots and Dicots. Differences and Similarities. We can't see inside a seed, but as soon as it germinates, we cantell if a plant is a monocot or a dicot. Amonocot has only one seed leaf (monocot is short for 'monocotyledon'. A cotyledon is a seed leaf, and 'mono' means one).
