Answer: The traditional agricultural practices followed in India are gradually being replaced by modern technology and agricultural practices.

New strategy is the substantial increase in the production of major cereals like rice and wheat in India. Total production of food grains in India has been facing wide fluctuations due to vagaries of monsoons. Inspite of these fluctuations, total production of food grains rose from 82 million tonnes in 1960-61 to 130 million tonnes in 1980-81 and then to 213.5 million tonnes in 2003-04 and then increased to 233.9 million tonnes in 2008-09.
