Permeability of membrane :- It is the capability or power to allow or send only substances which are required. This process by which membrane sends out or receives materials is known as permeability.

One such membrane is cell membrane, which selectively permits the substance, hence comes the name Selectively permeable membrane.

Answer:

  • A membrane is said to be a permeable if the substances both solute and solvent can pass through the membrane.
  • E.g.: if a spoon of salt is dissolved in water, salt is solute and water is a solvent.
  • In a permeable membrane both solute and solvent can pass through the membrane this is called permeability.
