Phytohormones are also called as plant hormones.

EXPLANATION:

They are small organic molecules which are naturally occurring or the substances which influence some physiological processes at very low level concentrations in plants. In fact, Phytohormones act as chemical messengers that control all the growth and development aspects.

Some examples of Phytohormones and their uses are:

  • Abscisic acid: It helps in closure of stomata
  • Auxins: It helps in plant growth
  • Ethylene: It helps in ripping of fruit
  • Cytokinins: It helps in opening of stomata.
  • Gibberellins: It helps in germination and flowering.
  • Brassinosteroids: It controls leaf abscission
