What do you mean by rain shadow area.?

A rain shadow is a dry area on the leeward side of a mountainous area(away from the wind). The mountains block the passage of rain-producing weather systems and cast a "shadow" of dryness behind them.

rain Shadow area is that area which does not receive any rainfall.


it is also known as leeward side.



for example the Alluvial range of Rajasthan



the Alluvial Rains of Rajasthan does not receive any rainfall this is known as rain Shadow area.
