• when the rulers elected by the people take the major decisions.

• Elections must offer free and fair opportunity to change the current ruler.
• The choice and the opportunity should be available after regular interval of times.
• Democracy offers some political, social and economic rights to its citizens.
• power sharing between the government and social groups is necessary  in a democracy as it is its spirit.
• democracy can not be the cruel rule of majority, it respects the minority.
• democracy eliminates discrimination on the basis of caste, religion and gender.
