• Reproduction •

The process by which living organisms produces their young ones to continue its own race is known as Reproduction.

This process is of two types -

1. Asexual Reproduction - When reproduction performed by single parent is known as Asexual reproduction. In this process no gamete produces and genetic recombination never reported. Organisms produced by asexual reproduction do not show any variation.

- It happens in lower organisms.

There are several methods of asexual reproduction. Different organisms performs different types of Asexual reproduction. Like - Bidding, Fission, through zoospores, through conidia, through vegetative propagation etc.

2. Sexual Reproduction - When in the reproduction process two individuals involve then known as Sexual reproduction. In sexual reproduction both parents forms gametes (male - sperm & female - ova) which fuses and forms zygote. Due to fusion of both gametes, genetic recombination occurs. Genetic recombination is the most characteristic features of sexual reproduction which leads to variations.

- It occurs in higher organisms e.g; - Plants, Animals etc.

- It involves production of gametes (Gametogenesis), fusion of gametes (fertilization), growth of embryo (embryonic development) and birth (parturition).
