Scion:

  • It is the upper part of the composite grafted plant.
  • It has a shoot system with desired traits.
  • It generally is taken from high yielding exotic variety of plant.
  • Scion provides high and better quality yield of flowers and fruits.

Stock:

  • It is the basal part on which grafting is done.
  • It has an extensive and strong root system.
  • It generally is taken from local variety of plant which is suitable for growth under local conditions.
  • Scion provides good anchorage, adequate water and minerals to composite plant.
