farming or a system of farming that provides all or almost all the goods required by the farm family usually without any significant surplus for sale.

subsistence farming is nothing but a subsidiary Alliance...

according to the terms of subsidiary Alliance Indian rules where not allowed to to have their independent arm force they were to be protected by the company and add to pay this if they fail to pay then the part of the territory was taken away..
