Newton's third law of motion states that:

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

This means that when a force is applied on any object(action) , then the object applies an equal and opposite force (reaction).

For example, when you walk.

You apply force towards the ground with your feet, but that force is very very very very less hence, the ground does'nt move. But the ground applies an equal force towards you in the opposite direction of your force. This makes you walk.
