what do you meant by the term pole of a magnet? Magnetically speaking, what is the difference between a piece of brass, a soft iron and a piece of lode-stone?

the poles of the magnet are the end points where the magnetic lines passes through. The two poles are North and South. soft iron is a soft magnetic material which can be magnetised and demagnetized whereas the brass and lode stone are non magnetic materials which can't be magnetised as they oppose magnetic lines to pass through them

mrina123: but lode stone is a natural magnet
ShreeCharan: yep, its a natural magnet but not a magnetic material, it doesn't allow magnetic lines of forces of other magnet to pass through it.
ShreeCharan: hope u understand
mrina123: okk
mrina123: but can u state 1 difference for each
mrina123: hope u understand
