if in case it is a distilled one then... the filter paper would simply get wet by absorption of water....

If it is pure water, then the water will simply pass through the filter paper making it wet by the absorption of water.
If it is impure water, then the water part will pass through the filter paper making it wet while leaving the impurities on the filter paper.
