On addition of ammonium hydroxide solution to lead nitrate, white precipitates of lead(ll) hydroxide are formed which redissolves in excess of ammonium hydroxide solution. The equation can be written as: Pb(NO3)2+2NH4OH→Pb(OH)2+2NH4NO3
