What do you think about the qazi and sultan
Answers
We get the reference of the Qazi and the Sultan in " History of Bengal".
Here professor Charles Stewart has mentioned a number of incidents about the Qazi Sirajuddin who was the Qazi e sub-eh of Bengal.
On one incident it was shown that while the sultan was busy practising archery, an arrow accidentally hit a boy and his widow mother rushed for justice.
At this juncture, the Qazi thought that if that they he overlooked the whole matter during judgement, he might be spared from the sultan's hand, but he would not be able to escape the God's justice after he died.
Similarly if he punished sultan that day, he would be called for further punishment by the Sultan.
At that point of time, the Sultan was even busy in his prayers and took out his sword.
Eventually he readily paid off compensation to the widow for his act to the young boy.
So Sultan was religious and accepted his mistake, while Qazi was ethical and quite loyal to his duties before anything else.
Answer:
The Qazi and the Sultan, both were honest people with a high level of integrity. The episode was a test for both of them, in the eyes of God. The Qazi had to summon the highest authority, the Sultan to Court and the Sultan had to adhere to the Law of the land.
This throws light on the fact that the law of the land is above all citizens whatever their status in society be. The wronged should be set right. This is how the law works and in a proper society this should work. This happens only if people like the Judges have great ethical standards like the Qazi and the Sultan.
