What do you think is meant by the statement “the human digestive system is very efficient at squeezing everything it can out of any food?" How do you think this relates to the way biomolecules are broken down and used by the body?

1) break down molecules into smaller components (2) release energy to be used by the organism .

In reference to your question that digestive system is capable enough to absorb the nutrients out of food that we eat, similarly other parts or systems of human body plays their role in obtaining energy from the food that we eat.

For example: In case of digestible carbohydrates, an enzyme is released in mouth and intestine called amylase that breaks down the carbs and absorb them. Similarly, small intestine plays a role in the breakdown of fat into simpler components so that it can be absorbed by the body.
