What do you think may have been the advantages and disadvantages of having hereditary officers ?

Not sure about the advantages, but the disadvantages may have been :-
i) Hereditary officers meant that the son or the heir of the previous officer will become the new officer.
ii) This meant that it didn't matter whether the heir was capable or not, he got the office anyway.
iii) Other more capable persons didn't got the chance to hold such offices, just because their parents were not officers.
iv) This provoked inequality among the people.

Advantages: (i) The father could trained his son from an early age in the office that he held. (ii) There will be a continuity of policy. Disadvantages: (i) An incompetent son may come to hold the office. (ii) Other more competent persons will be deprived of the opportunity to run the office.
