Advancing monsoon:
1) It is from June to September.
2) It carries moist wind.
3) It travels from sea to land.
4) It consists of two branches : Arabian sea  branch and Bay on Bangal branch.

Retaining monsoon:
1) It is from October to November 
2) It carry dry winds.
3)It has only one branch.
4)It travels from land to sea.
