Memory is basically of two types: what u call Ram(like phones have ram of 4gb 6gb etc)and Rom(storage where u store your useless forwarded whatsapp videos and stuff like photos etc)
There are ram sticks like 16 gb ddr4 etc
For rom storage there are hard disks and now ssds(faster) are used.
