Petrochemicals are organic compounds or chemicals gotten from petroleum. These are chemicals that are produced by petrochemical industries from crude oil

As we know that Petroleum is a viscous and having very unpleasant odour in it and is a mixture of many other substances like petrol, petroleum gas, diesel, kerosene, etc. Refining of petroleum is separating various fractions of petroleum in fractionating column and it is done in Petroleum refinery.
And the useful fractions obtained from the petroleum and from natural gas is known as petrochemicals. These chemicals are used in making detergents, and other fibres like acrylic, nylon, rayon, etc. And we also obtain hydrogen from the natural gas so it also comes in category of petrochemicals.
