The Directive Property of Magnet is that it explains its tendency to align itself along an external magnetic field.

When a magnet is suspended freely in air with the help of a thread,then it tends to align[means,place or arrange (things) in a straight line]. itself in the geographical north-south directions.

That's why it is called,The Directive Property of a Magnet!!!!!!

Suspend a bar magnet freely .Note the direction in which it comes to rest. It always comes to rest along the north- south direction of the earth. This is termed as the directive property of a magnet.
