What do you understand by the term friction? Explain clearly why it comes into play?
How will you distinguish between static friction and dynamic friction?

Friction is not a type of fundamental force like electromagnetic and gravity force, but it is the type of force which always opposes the object motion which is in contact with it.

When the two object in contact with each other their surface are somehow irregular means rough, due to which they get interlocked with each other and here friction force comes in the picture and opposes the motion of the object and the opposition which we see is nothing just friction force.

1). static friction--- It is type of friction force which act between two object ,which are not moving relative to each other.

2). kinetic friction--- It is the type of friction which act between two moving object, it means which are in motion.

Information about friction is given below -

Friction refers to resistive force between the objects which have irregular surface.

Friction comes into play due to resistance between the movement of objects, caused due to hindrance. The hindrance in turn occurs due to irregular shape, which resists movement and releases energy.

Daily life example of friction can be seen in sliding the book on the table, walking etc.

Static refers to stationary and hence the friction which exist between stationary objects and surface is called static friction. Example pushing sofa or shopping cart for the first time, is hard due to friction.

Dynamic refers to movement and hence dynamic friction is the one where there is relative motion between surface and object. Example walking, cycling requires effort.
