Constantinople was a great seat of learning when it fell to the turks, many scholars fled from the city and took shelter in Italy here they recieved ancient greek and latin learning .This led to the cultural movement called the renaissance. Renaissance in french means rebirth.The renaissance began in Italy and spread to other parts of Europe between fourteen and sixteen centuries it had two main features - spirit of scientific enquiry and humanism
