What does a dot in a chemical formula mean? eg CuSO4.5H2O. Does it mean that the one molecule ofCuSO4is attached to five molecules ofH2O??? pls expalin with help of diagram...

yes, you are right.

it does mean that 5 molecules of H2O are attached to CuSO4.

this is called water of crystallisation.

when u heat the compung then the water will be separated.

CuSO4.5H2O---->CuSO4+5H2O
