hey here's ur answer
Gravitropism (also known as geotropism) is a coordinated process of differential growth by a plant or fungus in response to gravity pulling on it. ... That is, roots grow in the direction of gravitational pull (i.e., downward) and stems grow in the opposite direction (i.e., upwards).
hope may help ......

A stem actually follows the force of attraction by earth to tend its stem.

This phenomena is known as geotropism.

This works as roots to downwards, and stem to upwards.
