The first speech we hear is that of Brutus. In his speech he aims to justify his reasons for killing Caeser, and also through his speech, antony proved to the citizens that caesar was not ambitious. He picked out instances for proving this.

Antony's speech appealed to the crowd's emotions, while Brutus's was clinically logical and direct.


Antony uses repetition of the phrase 'Brutus is an honorable man' to devastating effect.


These were the things which made Antony's speech more effective than that of brutus.
