An auscultatory gap is a period of diminished or absent Korotkoff soundsduring the manual measurement ofblood pressure. The improper interpretation of this gap may lead toblood pressure monitoring errors: namely, an underestimation of systolicblood pressure and/or an overestimation of diastolic blood pressure.
