Circuit is the path through which electric charge flows. The circuit may be either close or open. It generally constitutes of wire, switch and a device for output or the result. But more things can be added to the circuit such as voltmeter, ammeter, light bulb, motor, resistor, etc.

Answer:

In simple language we can say that electric circuit is a closed conducting path containing a source of electric energy and the load through which electric current flows.

Circuits contains:

* A cell or a battery for potential difference. It is the main source of electric circuit because battery converts chemical energy into electric energy which produces electric current.

* A device or a load utilising the electric energy. It is used to test the presence of electric current.

* An electric wires through which current can easily flow. It is medium which allows to pass the electric current.

* A switch or a key is used to control the circuit On/Off. When we "on" the circuit, the bulb glows. When we "off" the circuit, the bulb doesn't glows.

* A voltmeter is used to measure the potential difference. It is always connected in parallel across a wire. When voltmeter is connected in parallel across a conductor, the positive terminal of the voltmeter must be connected with the positive terminal of a cell or battery and its negative terminal must be connected with the negative terminal of the cell or battery.

* An ammeter is used to measure the electric current. It is always connected in series. Its positive terminal must be connected with the positive terminal of a cell or battery and its negative terminal must be connected with the negative terminal of the cell or battery.
