equal protection of the laws = A phrase in the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution requiring that states guarantee the same rights, privileges, and protections to all citizens.

Answer:

Equal protection under the law is given under “Article 14 of the Constitution of India”. It means that the law will provide its protection to all its citizens without differentiating or discriminating on the basis of income, caste, sex, religion etc.

In the constitution both “equality before law” and “Equal protection of law” fall under article 14 and both of them establish and uphold “Equality of Status and Opportunity” as mentioned in the “preamble” of the constitution.

But in reality since not all people are in the same position, the law allows for reasonable treatment under “Doctrine of Reasonable classification” as this kind of protective discrimination is also equality.
