what does it mean that in particular, the distance of a point p (x,y) from the origin o (0,0) is given by op=root of x^+y^

Hey... I think this can be ur answer!!

This means that when u want to find distance between origin and any other point than there is special formula that is - root x2 + y2

This is derived....

Let P(x, y) and O=(0,0)
Than OP 2 = (x-0)2 + (y-0)2 = x2+y2
OP = root (x2+y2)...
