They raised Gandhiji's name because they heard some rumours that Gandhiji said them to go to their homes instead of being suppressed under British. But, Gandhiji never said/promised anything like that. Gandhiji's name was being misused. But all tribals were united to fight against British. That's why Gandhiji's name worked as an umbrella to unite all tribes and to build emotional sentiments about Swaraj to them.
