It is a realistic, factual description, of how grandparents give the grandchildren all their time, attention and love. With a touch of humor and poetry in the portrayal of the author's grandmother moves deeply. She was so old she wasn't going to be older. That once she had played games as a child, and was young and married, it was difficult to believe. She appears to have stopped ageing.
She and her little grandson (the author) were left alone in the village. She was deeply religious. The beads of the rosary she was always told. She took her grandson to the temple-school and she read holy books inside. She 'fed the village dogs' while returning home. She started feeding the sparrows in the city because she had a separate room and no pets. In the last phase, when the author returned from abroad, she warmly received the author. She sang and beat the drum and due to too much she became unwell and died. Even the sparrows mourned and crowded around her dead body. She was such a noble soul.
