Answer:

Newton's second law states that the acceleration of an object is directly related to the net force and inversely related to its mass.

Acceleration of an object depends on two things

1) force

2)mass.

Newton's second law states that the rate of change of momentum of a body is directly proportional to the force applied, and this change in momentum takes place in the direction of the applied force.

Ok so for example to make it some simple,

a car is moving, now momentum is mass into velocity so car has some momentum.

Now brakes are applied so brakes are giving an opposing force which will stop the car ultimately. Now when force(by brakes)is applied then momentum of car changes as velocity is decreasing so momentum is going to be less.

Now second law states that change in momentum is directly proportional to force means more the force more the change in momentum, and this change happens in direction of force applied so brakes force in opposite direction of the momentum therefore momentum is decreasing and if it was in the direction then momentum would have increased as force would have increased the velocity of the car.

F=ma defines this law mathematically.

Hope it helps.
